Plant good bacteria in the digestive tract
As the anti fungals are killing off the yeast overgrowth it is important to increase your intake of probiotics. These are the friendly beneficial bacteria, or micro-organisms, that normally live in the digestive tract.
The easiest and least expensive way to plant healthy bacteria in the digestive tract is to take Cabbage Rejuvelac. Cabbage is a vegetable that is teeming with lactobacteria.
Taking Rejuvelac - Drink each day's rejuvelac during the course of the day by taking 1/2 cup three times per day, preferably with meals.
To implant a healthy population of lactobacteria in the intestinal tract take rejuvelac for 1 to 3 months. The value of rejuvelac should not be confused with that of freeze-dried acidophilus. Rejuvelac contains live lactobacteria but freeze dried lactobacteria die in a few weeks' time.
People who have candida are very sensitive to yeast so they should make a new batch every time, but they could start 3 jars 3 days in a row so they do not run out.
Probiotic supplements can also plant good bacteria in the digestive tract. As yeast colonies are reduced space becomes available for colonizing other healthy bacteria.
The best probiotic supplements will contain specific strains of bacteria that have been studied and verified as effective, and they will be identified on the bottle as a series of letters or numbers after the name of the bacteria to indicate a specific strain. Some of the most studied strains include Lactobacillus acidophilus DDS-1 and Lactobacillus GG.
In addition, probiotic supplements should be 2 – 2.5 billion active cells per capsule, contained in dark bottles to avoid deterioration by heat and light, and kept refrigerated, even in the store. Start taking 1 capsule with each meal to minimize nausea. Gradually increase doses to 10 billion active cells per day. At some point you can start taking them on an empty stomach 1 hour before meals, or 3 hours after meals, to increase their effectiveness.
Yogurt & Kefir would be good sources of probiotics, however many Candida sufferers are intolerant of its lactose (sugar) content, even if it is homemade and fermented long enough to remove most of the lactose. However they might become more tolerant later on in their programs.
Handling die-off symptoms
Drink lemon and ocean sea salt, i.e. Celtic Sea Salt, in clean warm water at least six times a day; three with meals to aid digestion. Mix the juice of ½ a lemon and ¼ teaspoon of sea salt in 6 ounces of water. Lemon and sea salt help the liver and adrenals detoxify.
Vitamin C - take 4,000 mgs. when the worst symptoms occur, and 1,000 mgs. every hour until the symptoms subside, or bowel tolerance is reached, i.e. diarrhea. Then cut back the amount taken.
Take baths with epsom salts, salt or 35% food grade hydrogen peroxide. Baths help draw toxins out through the skin and minimizes die-off symptoms. Add two cups, or 500 grams, of Epsom salts or one cup of salt to the bath. Use 1/2 cup of 35% food grade hydrogen peroxide in 1/2 of a bathtub with very warm water. Sit and soak until you sweat.
Clove tea or clove oil (caution; some people cannot tolerate it). Cloves are an excellent powerful antioxidant, and therefore a great detoxifier which also contains a natural antibiotic. To make clove tea: Boil four and a half cups of water; take off the heat and add two level teaspoons of ground cloves. Let it steep for 20 minutes. Strain, and drink hot or cold.
Often taking a high dose of an antifungal, instead of less, will help alleviate symptoms.
For relaxation do this for 15 minutes every day. Lie on the floor with your feet on a chair so your thighs are at a right angle to the seat of the chair and the calves of your legs are lying across the seat of the chair. It is as simple as that.
Dry Skin Brushing - Buy a natural, not Synthetic, Bristle Brush with a long Handle. Skin brush, before showering or bathing, at least once or twice per day if possible. For more information on Dry Skin Brushing
Some people experience severe itching. Coconut oil can eleviate and calm the itchy skin.
