Coconut Oil - Coconut oil is another healthy saturated fat that contains many beneficial properties and helps prevent bacterial, viral, and fungal (including yeast) infections. It also kills off yeast overgrowth. It supports immune system function, supplies important nutrients necessary for good health and improves digestion and nutrient absorption.

The fat in coconut oil is easily digested and absorbed, unlike the newfangled trans fats that act like plastic in the body. It puts little strain on the digestive system and provides a quick source of energy necessary to promote healing.

Coconut oil is absorbed directly from the intestines into the portal vein and sent straight to the liver, whereas other fats require pancreatic enzymes to break them into smaller units.

Look for unrefined coconut oil, since most commercial coconut oils are refined, bleached, and deodorized. It is highly resistant to spoilage and has a long shelf life (up to two (2) years at room temperature). Coconut oil has a high burning point and is a perfect oil for cooking. Coconut oil can be taken by the tablespoonfuls with meals to aid digestion. A good therapeutic dose is 1 to 2 tablespoons with fat containing meals, but it is advisable to start at a low dose of 1 teaspoon with meals, and gradually increase it to a maximum of 5 tablespoons per day.

You can lose unwanted body fat by eating more saturated fat (in the form of coconut oil) and less polyunsaturated fat (processed vegetable oils). Coconut oil can quite literally be called a low-fat fat. One of the best benefits of coconut oil lies in its ability to stimulate your metabolism.

The first, extra-virgin olive oil, is a healthy monounsaturated fat. It works great as a salad dressing.However, it is not the healthiest oil to cook with . Due to its chemical structure, cooking makes it susceptible to oxidative damage and increases the risk of disorders such heart disease, among others. P olyunsaturated fats, which include common vegetable oils such as corn, soy, safflower, sunflower and canola, are absolutely the worst oils to use in cooking. Omega-6 oils are especially prone to this because of all the double bonds they have which are highly susceptible to heat damage. These dangerous unsaturated fats are the ones you should ban from your diet, not naturally pure and healthy coconut oil, which contains very few fats with highly perishable double bonds and also has NO TRANS-FATS. There is only one oil that is stable enough to resist heat-induced damage, while it also helps you prevent heart disease, lower cholesterol and even lose weight -- coconut oil. So, whenever you need an oil to cook with, use coconut oil instead of butter, olive oil, vegetable oil or any other type of oil called for in recipes.

Curiously, coconut oil contains the most saturated fat of all edible oils. Although polyunsaturated fats encourage the formation of blood clots by increasing platelet stickiness, coconut oil decreases the tendency for platelets to stick together and form clots . The unique health benefits of coconut oil are directly related to its chemical structure, or more precisely, the length of its fatty acid chains. Coconut oil is comprised of medium-chain fatty acids (MCFAs), also called medium-chain triglycerides or MCTs. Coconut oil is nature's richest source of these healthy MCFAs.

So, by changing the fats in your diet from the unsaturated long-chain fatty acids found in vegetable or seed oils to the MCFAs in coconut oil, you may find yourself gradually losing those unnecessary pounds with little or no effort.

Coconut Oils Miracle Ingredients

Coconut oil contains the same compound -- lauric acid -- as mother's milk . Breast milk is packed with nutrients and disease-fighting ingredients that help keep babies healthy. Lauric acid is the predominant type of MCFA found in coconut oil. Approximately 50% of the fatty acids in coconut fat are lauric acid. Lauric acid is a medium chain fatty acid, which has the additional beneficial function of being formed into monolaurin in the human body.

Lauric acid in both breast milk and coconut oil transforms when consumed into a substance called monolaurin , the actual compound responsible for fighting numerous types of infections. A great deal of research has been done establishing the ability of lauric acid to fight dangerous micro-organisms like viruses, bacteria, yeasts, fungi, parasites and molds a nd other "bad guys" like the yeast candida, even the ringworm fungus.

Capric acid, another one of coconut's medium-chain fatty acids has been added to the list of coconut's antimicrobial components. Capric acid is found in large amounts in coconuts and it has a similar beneficial function when it is transformed into "monocaprin" in the human body. Also, research has shown that natural coconut fat in the diet leads to a normalization of body lipids, protects against alcohol damage to the liver, and improves the immune system's anti-inflammatory response. Caprylic Acid - Caprylic acid is a fatty acid supplement derived from coconut oil and is specifically effective for killing candida overgrowth on contact in the intestines. Since it is a supplement it is available in health food stores. Caprylic acid is absorbed through the walls of the intestines and can cause nausea. It should not be taken by people who have ulcerative colitis.

The medium-chain fatty acids and monoglycerides found primarily in coconut oil have tremendous healing power. It is rare in the history of medicine to find substances which have such useful properties and still be without toxicity or even harmful side effects.
